V2V Vacations Case Study

The Situation:

V2V Vacations, a luxury marine transportation experience launching in spring 2017, worked with Tartan to generate marketing content and bookings. The proposed ferry service from Victoria’s Inner Harbour to Vancouver’s Coal Harbour will introduce a new and fast service where other previous ferry services have failed.

The Insight:

The key to V2V Vacations developing a successful service, marketing the unique vacation experience of British Columbia, and promoting the scenic ride through along the coast to international markets introduced a challenge.  While waiting for online communication tools to be developed it was important to introduce the service to travel trade early to ensure it was on their booking cycle (often two years out).  The ferry service needed to make significant progress on bookings and was looking to sell to tour groups worldwide and differentiate itself from the other major transportation methods as a unique option that combines luxury, convenience, and speed.

The Solution:

Sue Bosdet worked with their VP of operations, and the director of sales & marketing during their pre-launch and initial start-up phase to open doors to the trade and obtain signed annual marketing contracts with several receptive tour operators in Canada. Sue attended road shows, worked the phones, set up one on one meetings, ensured travel trade representatives with Destination BC and Tourism Victoria had the latest information and even helped translate brochures for the Chinese market.

The Results:

Sue’s existing long-term relationships and expertise in promoting through local and international travel trade quickly resulted in brand awareness for this client. In three short months V2V Vacations has realized several future reservations and two complete exclusive use buyouts of the vessel in its first year of operation.
